Fugen Neziroglu, Ph.D. – President

Dr. Fugen Neziroglu is co-founder and clinical director of Bio Behavioral Institute in Great Neck, New York. She received her Ph.D. in clinical, school-community psychology from Hofstra University and completed her post-graduate work in behavior and cognitive therapy at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation and has devoted her career to the research and treatment of OCD and spectrum disorders. She has presented and published over 100 papers in scientific journals and is the author and co-author of 14 books on obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders.

Sony Khemlani-Patel, Ph.D. – Vice President

Dr. Sony Khemlani-Patel is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Director at the Bio Behavioral Institute in Great Neck, NY specializing in the treatment and research of obsessive compulsive related disorders. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical School Psychology from Hofstra University. In addition to providing direct clinical care, Dr. Khemlani also supervises psychology interns and participates in research projects. She is a member of the International OCD Foundation’s Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board and the Foundation’s Body Dysmorphic Disorder Special Interest Group. She has presented and published extensively on OC related disorders, with a special interest in body dysmorphic disorder. She has co-authored two books.

Scott Sokolow – Treasurer

Scott L. Sokolow (Brown University ’85), has been an Educational Advocate since 1997.  In this position Mr. Sokolow assists parents/guardians navigate the often-confusing process of special education so that they can make well informed decisions regarding their child’s education.  Having persevered through the process for his own child, Mr. Sokolow has become adept at obtaining appropriate educational services and accommodations from school districts.  With a primary focus on kindergarten thru high school, he works closely with his clients to meet their individual needs as well as inform them of their educational rights.  Additionally, Mr. Sokolow advises on transitioning to a college/vocational program as well as the preparation for entry into the workforce.  Mr. Sokolow can be reached at OCD New York, Inc. with any questions you may have regarding your own specific individual needs. Email: info@ocdny.org
